Industry - Jon McLaughlin
♫This is me on my knees singing take it all from me, take it all
Speak to my needs, my needs, take it all, just take it all
This is me.
So the crowd gets quiet and I start to play
And I think they're buying what I've got to say
But to my defiance the music fades
And we all sit silent and I crawl back inside
Because it wasn't supposed go this bad.
When you fall silent I start to fall.♫
(We strike out to conquer, to do a thing, our thing, our desire and design. Hell if we don't f*ck it up most of the time. We turn around, begin again, sighing out...."i want i want i want" and the universe does not concur. We turn around, begin again, dizzy now with the whipping of our heads, the ping pong of want and reality, of need and purpose. Finally to say, "Take it. Everything I wanted. I'm tired. TAKE IT", and then perhaps, to find our hands full and our mouths overflowing with the unexpected.)

Rise - Josh Bray
♫Listen to the wind
as it blows from the East
how it drives all the fear from your mind
skip on your feet
and let your soul be complete
as you leave this old city behind
Rise from your knees
and do exactly as you please
don't let anyone here
tell you not to fly
speak clearly your mind
I think then you will find
this is truth
know that this ain't no lie
You were the secret that we told to the sea
and the sea don't believe human lies
turn on your heels and let your fate be revealed
let it shine like a light in your eyes
These are days that roll on by
These are memories of a time
and of a place that you don't deny
So lay me down here
where there's nothing more to fear
said the hope
that you fed me this time
listen to the sin
as it blows in the wind
I wanna scream
I wanna curse them out loud
Rise from my knees
crack my back in this feed
and that's a sound that'll make you right proud
so clearly you'll find
theres a love in my mind
and no lie that ever wrapped in a shroud
I was there with you
I helped you along
I ain't had such a good time
for so long.♫
(Just found this artist about a month ago. I love also 'Hard Living' from the same album Whisky & Wool released March 13, 2011)

Third Day - Make Your Move
♫I'm looking around here for some kind of miracle
I'm looking around here for some kind of sign
I gotta believe there's a rhyme and a reason
For the faith that you find
And if you care to share a minute of your time with me
Tell me now because I am hoping that I can believe
Give me a reason to trust what you're telling me
Lord knows I need it now, won't you show me how.♫
(I'm kind of laughing today. Brought some friends to church on Easter which is always an hour long experience of "What are they thinking of this?" going off in my crazy brain. But there was a dance number...the first ever in our church...to Uprising by Muse. Our preacher wore jean shorts and no shoes, as is typical for him. My "show them how" is I'm sure way different than anything they were expecting.)
I keep getting in trouble for copyright infrigement. Who knows if the music will actually stay on here...so you can hear it here!

Barton Hollow - The Civil Wars
(This is the first time I've heard this group and after seeking out the rest of their work, found that this was the only one I loved. While not agreeing with the premise there is no redemption or salvation for whatever the subject did for money, I understand guilt, and it weighing so heavy in a moment that it feels like there is no going back. Strength of spirit says "Yes" anyway, and accepts consequences as the lifeblood of change. I've watched this a hundred times, still can't make out what is written on his arm. Anyone?)
♫I'm a dead man walking here
But that's the least of all my fears
Ooh, underneath the water
It's not Alabama clay
That gives my trembling hands away
Please forgive me father
Ain't going back to Barton Hollow
Devil gonna follow me e'er I go
Won't do me no good washing in the river
Can't no preacher man save my soul
Did that full moon force my hand?
Or that un marked hundred grand?
Ooh, underneath the water
Please forgive me father.♫

Breathe Into Me - Red
("Red plays hard rock music that occasionally flirts with metal influences. The quartet is identified as a Christian band, but their songs don’t contain overt references to religion or faith, although their lyrics’ have implied spiritual themes.")
♫And this is how it feels when I ignore the words you spoke to me
And this is where I lose myself when I keep running away from you
And this is who I am when, when I don't know myself anymore
And this is what I choose when it's all left up to me
Breathe your life into me
I can feel you
I'm falling, falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you.♫
My air does catch, like a hiccup expelled long
too long
and lungs forget they have hollow spaces
which can be mindfully filled
but even when I will not....
forcefully then
and I scrunch my face
open mouthed in silent protest
father, you should have let me go
God can roll His eyes...
and does

Falling Off the Face of the Earth - Matt Wertz
There is an edge to the earth,
that planet we each are
our own core
the flowing mantle
we cover with crust
and stepping from
we know then
our hands fisting feathers
formless
the static of our hair
up
and the great Unknown
rushing
the exposed nape
