You Don't Have To Believe Me - Eric Hutchinson

"You don't have to believe me I'm just speaking my mind
you look lovely as always you get that all the time
you don't have to believe me when I tell you that i'm impressed
but you sure better believe me when I say you deserve the best

you don't have to believe me but i'm not gonna lie
i've seen all the attention you get from other guys
you don't have to believe me when i tell you i like your dress
but you sure better believe me when i say you deserve respect

it feels like nobody's on your side no access to your pride
you gotta learn to take control your whole body is a temple so
you've got a choice to make and your mind is what's at stake
so before we build this love please believe that you're good enough

you don't have to believe me but I'm not often wrong
they've been taking advantage and it's gone on too long
you don't have to believe me when we're dancing out on the floor
but you sure better believe me when i say you are worth much more

you don't have to believe me
but you sure better believe me when i tell you you're due for love

i don't want nobody else
and nobody else is gonna treat you the way they ought to
and that's what you deserve
if I could make you see it
so you can truly believe it
so you won't even need it
no, no, no, no, no, no, no

you don't have to believe me
and i continue on
you've still got the potential
that you've had all along
you don't have to believe me when
you're shaking what you got
but you sure better believe me when
i tell you your mind's what's hot."

There were younger days
when skin spoke loudly
and the math of your face,
that perfect formula
over which you can stake no claim,
dictated you were beautiful

it wouldn't matter now
if you hadn't skin at all!
show me every thought
and then believe me when I tell you
your mind's what's hot.

(Silly, I know. But we, as women, try to believe this. Media keeps shitting on it. Sometimes I hate the media. Then it turns, and I hate society even more because of what they choose to consume. Media is only the conduit for our purchase. Hate is a strong word, but I use strong words. I feel strong words.)

Fat Bottom Girls - Antigone Rising

Ha! I forgot....I DO have a happy song! Love this version so much better than Queen (sorry to die hard fans to whom I have just offended) but this version simply rocks! It must be played loud with your best girl friends!

I Need To Know - Kris Allen

♫Life's been blinding me
From what I thought I'd see
Is there clarity in this insanity?
What's she want from me?

Roads in front of me
Taking me astray
Are you leaving me?
Or are you leading the way?
Can you hear what I'm sayin'?

Feel like I'm tryin' to breathe under water
Tryin' to climb but I keep fallin' farther
Will you take my hand?

Feel so far away
Want to see your face
Are you leaving me?
Can you show me?
Can you make me believe?

I need to know...♫

(Seems great acting to sing this so compellingly but not have lived it. Yet Justin Nozuka did just that in Save Him. It was not his experience, yet Save Him was the only song during which I have ever had to pull over on the side of the freeway and give it my full attention. Pieces of my heart were missing after that song, and will always litter HWY 99.)

I've been everything you sought
and nothing you needed
I've held to the fabric that wove you
laid you out flat
reshaped into the same rigid box
no smaller, or bigger in the disservice.

Through the ringer
of an unbalanced Maytag.

I needed to know...

Behind the Scenes - Francesca Battistelli

♫You may think
I’m just fine
How could anything
Ever be out of line?

I take my time
To set the stage
To make sure everything
Is all in place

Even though I’ve got the lines rehearsed
A picture only paints a thousand words

Things aren’t always what they seem
You’re only seeing part of me
There’s more than you could ever know
Behind the scenes
I’m incomplete and I’m undone
But I suppose like everyone
There’s so much more that’s going on
Behind the scenes

Sometimes I can’t see
Anything
Through the dark
Surrounding me
And at times I’m unsure
About the ground
Beneath my feet
If it’s safe and sound

When it’s hard to find hope in the unseen
I have peace in knowing it will find me

You may think I’m just fine
How could anything ever be out of line?♫

(This song is a favorite, not only for the truth it touches personally, but because it reminds me that no one is only what they present. There is much to consider in everyone, especially the unseen.)

When a Heart Breaks - Ben Rector

♫I woke up this morning
And I heard the news
I know the pain of a heartbreak
I don't have answers
And neither do you
I know the pain of a heartbreak

This isn't easy
This isn't clear
And you don't need Jesus
Til you're here
Then confusion and the doubts you had
Up and walk away
They walk away
When a heart breaks

I heard the doctor
But what did he say
I knew I was fine about this time yesterday
I don't need answers
I just need some peace
I just need someone who could help me get some sleep
Who could help me get some sleep

This isn't easy
This isn't clear
And you don't need Jesus
Til you're here
Then confusion and the doubts you had
Up and walk away
They walk away
When a heart breaks.♫

(He's got a blog! Doesn't include many words however. I like him...more for vocal styling and melody than lyrics. New on my playlist today. Wondering why I can't find more female singers I like? Wondering if I'm biased? I'd cop to it if I was, but I do seek them out...keep hoping, always to be disappointed. But that in itself is part of my nature. Blerk! )

This is just fun...something I would do.

Industry - Jon McLaughlin

♫This is me on my knees singing take it all from me, take it all
Speak to my needs, my needs, take it all, just take it all
This is me.

So the crowd gets quiet and I start to play
And I think they're buying what I've got to say
But to my defiance the music fades
And we all sit silent and I crawl back inside
Because it wasn't supposed go this bad.

When you fall silent I start to fall.♫

(We strike out to conquer, to do a thing, our thing, our desire and design. Hell if we don't f*ck it up most of the time. We turn around, begin again, sighing out...."i want i want i want" and the universe does not concur. We turn around, begin again, dizzy now with the whipping of our heads, the ping pong of want and reality, of need and purpose. Finally to say, "Take it. Everything I wanted. I'm tired. TAKE IT", and then perhaps, to find our hands full and our mouths overflowing with the unexpected.)

Rise - Josh Bray

♫Listen to the wind
as it blows from the East
how it drives all the fear from your mind
skip on your feet
and let your soul be complete
as you leave this old city behind

Rise from your knees
and do exactly as you please
don't let anyone here
tell you not to fly
speak clearly your mind
I think then you will find
this is truth
know that this ain't no lie

You were the secret that we told to the sea
and the sea don't believe human lies
turn on your heels and let your fate be revealed
let it shine like a light in your eyes

These are days that roll on by
These are memories of a time
and of a place that you don't deny

So lay me down here
where there's nothing more to fear
said the hope
that you fed me this time
listen to the sin
as it blows in the wind
I wanna scream
I wanna curse them out loud

Rise from my knees
crack my back in this feed
and that's a sound that'll make you right proud
so clearly you'll find
theres a love in my mind
and no lie that ever wrapped in a shroud

I was there with you
I helped you along
I ain't had such a good time
for so long.♫

(Just found this artist about a month ago. I love also 'Hard Living' from the same album Whisky & Wool released March 13, 2011)
